Extra Credit Possibilities

For extra credit, as explained before, you have the opportunity to experience new things that you typically would not undertake.  For extra credit points, you can write a summary/analysis of about experiencing something you would have never experienced, going somewhere you typically wouldn’t go, or doing something that you typically wouldn’t do.

I do not want people experimenting with drugs or going to downtown punk bars – be safe and not stupid!!!  I merely want you to open your lives up to new foods, new music, new forms of art, and new experiences.

To get extra credit, you are required to complete a minimum one-page summary.  The summary/analysis should contain (in essay format) answers to the following questions:

  1. What was the new experience you undertook?  Explain to me what it was that you did?

  1. What were your preconceived notions (biases) about the experience before you experienced it?

  1. How was this experience “new” to you?  How does this show that you are expanding your horizons?  Tell me what the “old” you did.

  1. What new things were felt or thought by you when you experienced this?

  1. What did you learn about yourself and your preconceived notions about this experience?

  1. Will you ever experience this again?  If yes, why and when?  If no, why not?

The important thing in this assignment is to truly answer the above questions.  If you hated the experience, at least now you know that you hate it and that hate is based on experience, not preconceived notions.  Don’t tell me what you think I want to hear, tell me what you experience and how it made you feel.

This essay should be 12-point Times New Roman font and double-spaced with one inch margins.

Enjoy this assignment and ENJOY LIFE!!!  There is always a lot to learn in unexpected places!!!
