Writing Lab
In order to facilitate
student writing throughout the college community and to expand the Writing Lab's
clientele, the Writing Lab will pursue the following activities:
·
Provide both formal and informal tutoring at all skill levels to
students working on writing in English as well as in other disciplines.
·
Provide up-to-date electronic and hardcopy resources to facilitate
independent student learning at various levels.
·
Collaborate with the ELI and other divisions to develop resources
for working with groups with special needs, such as students for whom English is
a second language and nursing or pharmacy students.
·
Develop orientation materials to ensure proper and efficient use
of the lab's facilities.
·
Expand the clientele of the lab by doing outreach to institutions
in the metropolitan area, such as high schools. |
Bio
Elaine McKeand: I am an unapologetic maize
and blue fan, having received my B.A., M.A. and Ph. D from the University
of Michigan. I specialized in teaching composition and studying Victorian
and Modern British and American fiction. At this point in my career, I
particularly enjoy seeing students reach a threshold of success in their
own writing, both personal and academic, and to that end I teach primarily
composition courses; additionally, these interests have led me to become
the Writing Lab Liaison for the English Division.
