Course Descriptions:
JOUR 131: Journalism 131 is
a course designed to be an
introduction to news
writing. In this
course, the students learn
to write exciting news
stories, thought-provoking
opinion columns, and
stimulating reviews.
Students also read and
analyze professional
newspapers.
JOUR 134: Journalism 134 is
a study of the advertising
industry and how it
functions in our lives.
The student learns to write
advertising copy based on
the theories of selling a
product. A single
advertiser is studied and an
advertising campaign is
developed.

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY
James Reppke earned a master's degree in
Journalism at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) and a master's degree
in English at Eastern Michigan University. He has taught at HFCC since
1976 and has served on numerous English Division and college-wide
committees. He was also the advisor to the college newspaper and the
advisor and founder of Michigan's first community college news magazine.
