Welcome to home page for the online
English courses taught by Dr. Peter Kim.
Please read the syllabus of the respective course in which you are
enrolled for specific instructions:
Fall 2009 Semester
ENG 132-97: http://adm.hfcc.edu/~pkim/ENG132.94syllabusFall2009.pdf
ENG 246-98: http://adm.hfcc.edu/~pkim/ENG246.98syllabusFall2009.pdf
ENG 246-99: http://adm.hfcc.edu/~pkim/ENG246.99syllabusFall2009.pdf
The book(s) for the course is available at the college store: http://collegestore.hfcc.edu
On the first day of class, you must log in to the college’s online class
management website in order to access all class materials, including handouts,
directions for assignments, and due dates: http://henryford.ucompass.com. If you are not familiar with how to use
UCompass, or how to login, click the link that says
“Login Information” on the left hand column.
Please review the following website to insure you understand how I want you to
submit assignments: http://adm.hfcc.edu/~pkim/HowtoUseUCompass.htm.
One common mistake is forgetting to
check the box at the bottom of an assignment screen that indicates you would
like the assignment "submitted for a grade." You must check that box;
otherwise I will not receive the assignment. If you have not received a grade or feedback on an
assignment within a week of submitting it, please contact me in case it was not
sent properly.
You have the option to submit
assignments using Microsoft Word or "rich text format" attachments
through the "submit" option under each assignment on the UCompass website or through the UCompass
course email. If you do not have a
word processing program on your computer, you can download a free Microsoft
Word compatible program at the following website: http://download.openoffice.org/
As recommended by the college IT department, once the semester begins, please only use
the course email (username@henryford.ucompass.com) to communicate with the
instructor and not any free email accounts like Hotmail or AOL as these are
filtered by the UCompass software and I will not be
able to receive email from them in order to protect the system from spam or
viruses.
Prior to the start of the semester,
however, please email or phone me if you have any questions about the course.
Sincerely,
Peter
